We found these beautiful swallows in Paris on a crumbling old sample card in an ancient warehouse. The accompanying notes indicate the piece was originally created in 1879. The graceful, curved lines of the wings and body and the astonishing detail in the individual feathers embody the kind of top-quality craftsmanship we look for in the best pieces from this era. We hand-cast them in our studio in 14k gold and gave it a chic matte satin finish. These are actually two
different
birds (left facing and right facing, hollow in back) that form a mirror image when used together. For an extra bit of charm we professionally set small red rubies in each eye. In this earring, each bird carries in its beak a BIG top quality faceted light pink quartz gemstone. These stones have a slightly milky character and measure 15 x 8mm. Above is a coordinating garnet bead. 14k gold earwires. All 14k wire. Earring measures appx. 2 ½ inches tall. Matching necklace is available separately, upon request.
