Mercedes1992 Mercedes 500E, 300SL, 500SL, 300CE Brochure
78-page Sport Models Catalog
Plus 16-pg Technical Spec Catalog
If I had to choose a brochure from the last 20 years that I felt had the most interesting cars Mercedes made for the
U.S.
market, it would have to be this one.
Featured are:
The 500 SL Roadster/coupe
The 300 SL Roadster/coupe
The very, very limited production 500E Sport Sedan
The sleek design 300CE coupe
The two SL models had been introduced recently with many innovative features, like a pop-up roll bar, fully automatic soft-top, and many other technological firsts. It set the standard of a touring sports car should be.
The 500E was the fastest car Mercedes sold at the time in the
U.S.
It was the equivalent of what the 450SEL 6.9 meant in the 1970s. A joint venture with Porsche, this car was only produced 400 times in 1992 for the
U.S.
market.
Coupes always had a special place (and a high price) in the Mercedes line. The 300CE was no exception. It had individual seating in the rear, an optional sport-line package (wider wheels , tires, and more equipment), and had a 4-valve per cylinder engine that was not available in the sedan.
The catalog is divided into three section.
An introduction to Mercedes Benz.
Thorough detail about the models.
Discusses optional equipment and technical specifications.
There are very many pictures of all models. The first half features dramatic black and white pictures of the cars standing, emphasizing the design of the car. The second half has colorful pictures of the cars at speed.
Also included is a technical specification brochure that has all details on the 1992 model cars.
Dimensions:
approx. 8.5” by 11”, 78 pages + 16 pages (specs)
Condition:
Some wear at the corners and on the covers. The first few pages are wavy near the binding - I think it is from the way the brochure was bound.
Overall in decent shape.
E-mail with any questions.
