Description
Antique Priests of Pallas advertisement for the grand parade, held October 4, 1893. A group of businessmen known as the Flambeau Club thought up the idea to attract tourism to Kansas City in the early 1880s, similar to the rage as New Orleans' Mardi Gras. They created a week-long event in KC with extravangant parade floats, musicians, and enterprise. The theme was based off of Greek Mythology Pallas Athene. This is an advertising trade card for the parade held in 1893. The back noted 22 beautiful floats, more than 600 costumes and 12 bands. The railroad even had special travel rates for a week. This measures 3.25 x 5.25 inches. It has a light crease across teh top and some stains as shown. Enjoy!
