Description
"MERCEDES" MAGAZINE, 3/2001 SHOWING THE TWIN TOWERS IN THE BACKGROUND-Here's
something quite interesting
for Mercedes Advertising Fans, Collectors of unique Automotive
Publications, Documents of historical importance and sadly U.S.
History combined.
This is the
3rd quarter
edition of the
"Mercedes" Magazine, 114 pages in German
that I picked up
at a Mercedes Dealership while in Germany on
Sept. 11, 2001
. You'll notice that the cover
shows the
then new
Mercedes SL, R230
with the
Twin Towers
and
N.Y. Skyline
in the background.
This "Mercedes" magazine was out for the
fall edition (3/11)
and available to "friends of the House of Daimler-Benz" but
not offered in the U.S. Market with
no one knowing that what was shown on the cover would go down as one of the worst chapters in U.S. History. The Dealership in Munich picked all of these up off the display
counters a few minutes after I noticed these thinking
"this has to be worth collecting"
for the future.
We had attended the
IAA Frankfurt Auto Show in Sept. 2001
as the NEW Mercedes SL was shown there for the
world premier
coordinated with this
MERCEDES MAGAZINE.
This copy and the other two (2) I own have never really been used but have been in a box stored in the garage since I brought them back from Germany with me in 2001.
Actually, I'm not sure where this one fits in
"Collecting"
Mercedes advertising
but here is one if you're interested
and feel that it is a unique Magazine dealing with
Mercedes History
and perhaps holding onto for the future.
Is there any other
Mercedes Magazine Cover
that captures 9/11 in one auto photo like this one? Probably not and this is a "one off" in the history of automobile advertising.
The size is: 11" x 8 1/2" or 28cm x 21,5cm
Thanks for reading through this description and let me know what you think please.
