Description
This beautiful white fine gauge angora yarn knittedbaby / doll bonnet with satin ribbons is in excellent vintage condition.
Dating back to the 1950s, this cap-style b
onnet features a garter stitch border that frames the face, has a closed back, and a turned bottom hem.
A dropped-stitched technique has been used around the front of the piece so that a dainty matching white satin ribbon can be threaded through the openings which allows the bonnet to hug the face when the two end ties are pulled tight and tied in a bow. Two matching white satin decorative bows also adorn each side of the bonnet at the lower edge. (See pix.)
Bonnet is unmarked as to maker and size. Due to the bonnet's knit construction, it does have some stretch. However, as you'll see in the pix, bonnet is a bit too small for the doll used to model the piece but I wanted you to see its lines and form and how it looks when unstretched.
For reference, the doll's head measures approximately 16" in circumference when measured at the mid-point of her forehead.
If you measure the bonnet at the back from the crown to the lower edge, the "drop" is approximately 6".
Bonnet is in excellent vintage condition. No holes, stains, wear, or repairs. (See pix.)
The daintiness and delicacy of the fine gauge knitting used on this bonnet is so darling and sweet. A perfect piece for baby or your favorite doll, or to add to your collection.
