This is a real trip to the past! KC,the Kansas City Magazine from July 1972. Check out those clothes! In addition to the fashion pictures, it has articles featuring area highlights-such as the Revival at the River.
They also included "baseball cards" that you can cut out, featuring Kansas City Royals players at the time. Many notable players featured here, but especially Louis Victor "Lou" Piniella! He played for the Royals for their first five seasons (1969-1973) and was the Rookie of the Year for the American League in1969. He was the first batter in Royals history-on April 8 of their first season in 1969, he led off the bottom of the first inning against left-handerTom Hall of the Minnesota Twins. Piniella doubled to left field, then scored on an RBI single by Jerry Adair!
Other players featured are: John Claiborn Mayberry (in his first season with the Royals, he had 25 home runs and hit in 100 runs), Octavio Rivas "Cookie" Rojas, Freddie Joe "Midg" Patek, Paul"The Stroller" Schaal, Amos Joseph Otis, Richard Alan"Ritchie" Scheinblum, Jerry Lee May, Edgar Leon Kirkpatrick, Richard Anthony "Dick" Drago, Paul Williams Splittorff, Jr and Ed Wade Abernathy.
